Which ergoPouch product should I choose?

It will depend on the age and development of your child. We have an ergoPouch product suitable for different stages, newborns right through to 6 years old. As a guide, we suggest choosing the following products:

Cocoon Swaddle Bag: For swaddled newborns and babies who are not yet rolling. Once rolling, suitable for arms-out sleeping by opening the arm-poppers at shoulders, through to age 12 months.

Jersey Bag: Slim fit sleeping bag for arms-out sleepers. The ideal first sleeping bag when coming out of a swaddle. Suitable from 3 months — 24 months.

Sheeting Bag: Roomy fit sleeping bag for arms-out sleepers. Ideal for older infants and toddlers from 3 months up.

Sleep Suit Bag: Convertible sleeping bag to sleep suit, for arms out sleepers. Suitable from age 3 months, but we recommend the Sleep Suit Bag once your little one is walking and up to 6 years old.

Sleep Onesie: A sleeping bag alternative for kids who don’t like a sleeping bag, or those ready to transition into a big bed, suitable for 6 months — 5 years.

Layers: TOG rated sleepwear to be worn underneath an ergoPouch swaddle, bag or suit for extra warmth. Choose long-sleeved or short-sleeved depending on the temperature. Sizes available for newborns — 2 years.

Pyjamas: TOG rated 2-piece pyjamas for toddlers and preschoolers once the zip-up layers phase is over, or you are toilet training. Ideal to wear underneath an ergoPouch, or on their own in a big bed with blankets.

Bodywear: Light, organic ribbed singlets and bodysuits to wear as the layer that sits closest to your child’s skin. Use under PJs or in place of, depending on the weather. Age ranges newborn — 5 years.

You would choose the appropriate TOG rating of your chosen product, based on the temperature of your child’s sleeping environment.

We’ve put together this handy Product Milestones chart and What to Wear Temperature Guide to help you choose the perfect product!

What is a TOG? Which one should I choose?

A TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and is a unit of measurement for insulation and warmth of sleepwear and bedding. Put simply, the lower the TOG rating, the lighter the fabric. The higher the rating, the more padded and insulated it is. With TOG-rated sleepwear, you do not need additional blankets in your child’s sleep space.

You would choose a suitable TOG based on the temperature of the room your child is sleeping in. ergoPouch TOGs are suitable for the below room temperatures:

  • 0.2 & 0.3 TOG = 24 degrees Cº+
  • 1.0 TOG = 21 degrees Cº – 24 degrees Cº
  • 2.5 TOG = 17 degrees Cº – 23 degrees Cº
  • 3.5 TOG = 14 degrees Cº – 21 degrees Cº

To take the guesswork out of dressing your little one for sleep, please check our room temperature and What to Wear Guide to help you decide the right TOG rating, and how to layer underneath.

Can I use blankets over the top of an ergoPouch?

It is recommended by safe sleep guidelines to sleep your baby with their face and head uncovered, and their bassinet or cot free from bedding, pillows and toys. It is for this reason our swaddles, sleeping bags and sleep suits bags are designed to replace bedding altogether.

To ensure the face is always clear, ergoPouch bags are designed to avoid unravelling, have suitable armholes and a fitted neck. It’s for the same reason there are no hoods on our bags.

Safety and fit

Are ergoPouch products safe for sleep?

Safety is at the forefront of mind when designing an ergoPouch product. All ergoPouch sleepwear go through product safety standard testing as required by Australian law and products are designed for safe sleeping according to Australian SIDS guidelines.

We ask for your support to double check your ergoPouch purchase is the right TOG and style for your child’s stage, and is a suitable fit for your child’s size.

What do the different fire labels mean?

Fire labels can seem worrying so let us explain what they are for. Product Safety guidelines are mostly based on what will happen if a garment is exposed to an open flame. All children’s sleepwear will fall into a category and must have a fire danger label if they are correctly labelled to Australian standards (unless purchased overseas). Categories 1–3 require a low fire hazard label and category 4 requires a high fire hazard warning label.

Category 1 - Garments made from fabric and trims that pass low flammability tests. Examples include wool, some synthetics and some heavy cottons.

Category 2 - Garments that are close fitting, such as pyjamas, do not ignite or burn as readily. As a result, they may be made from more flammable fabrics. Garment measurements apply according to size.

Category 3 - Babies' all-in-ones have their own category because there is little difference between daywear and nightwear. This category covers all-in-one garments in sizes 00–2, such as jumpsuits and rompers.

Category 4 - Applies to garments that do not fit categories 1, 2 or 3 but still meet some fabric, size and burning test requirements.

Are your products non-toxic?

Yes. Our fabrics are independently certified by Peterson Control Union to be non-toxic and free from harmful metals and chemicals such as lead and formaldehyde. We use water-based dyes to ensure no harmful chemicals in the ink. Our organic cotton is GOTS-certified.

My child suffers from eczema, is ergoPouch suitable for them?

ergoPouch products have been reviewed as safe for little ones who suffer from irritation associated with eczema by the Eczema Association of Australasia Inc (EAA).

Eczema (atopic dermatitis) is a recurring, non-infectious, inflammatory skin condition affecting one in three Australasians at some stage throughout their lives. Eczema is linked to a number of triggers which includes; weather, clothing, chemicals and air conditioning or overheating. (Eczema Association of Australasia).

To help prevent eczema flare-ups overnight during sleep, eczema sufferers will benefit from sleeping in natural, chemical-free fibres that allow breathability, and won’t irritate their skin overnight. All ergoPouch sleepwear is made from breathable, natural fibres including certified organic cotton which is dyed with water-based dyes. They are certified non-toxic and contain no chemicals.

Cocoon Swaddle Bag

What is a swaddle, and why use one?

In the early days after birth, a newborn will experience a startle reflex. This reflex causes the hands and body to jerk during sleep, and this action can often wake or unsettle them. Using a swaddle can help contain this sudden movement and prevent waking. Swaddling can also soothe and settle them to sleep by providing a feeling of containment, similar to their experience in the confined space of a womb. Our Cocoon Swaddle Bag also has the following benefits:

  • Keeping baby’s body warm in the early stages when their ability to regulate body temperature is still developing.
  • A hug! A baby would love to spend the whole night bundled up in their parent’s warm arms so swaddles help create that sensation of being hugged.
  • Can help a baby focus on feeding by keeping their arms and legs out of the way.
  • Prevents baby from scratching themselves with their nails.
  • Swaddling = a longer sleep for everyone!

What size Cocoon Swaddle Bag do I choose?

It is important that you choose the right size for your baby’s weight. Please do not be tempted to upsize, to get more wear out of the swaddle. You can follow our Size Guide to see what size will be best suited for your baby. If you are pregnant, we suggested buying one Newborn size, and one 0-3 months size.

What TOG rating do I choose for the Cocoon Swaddle Bag?

You would choose a suitable TOG based on the temperature of the room your baby is sleeping in.

To take the guesswork out of dressing your little one for sleep, please check our room temperature and What to Wear Guide to help you decide the right TOG rating, and how to layer underneath

How do I use the Cocoon Swaddle Bag?

  1. Open the Cocoon and lay on a low, flat surface
  2. Lay your baby on top, and zip up from the bottom. You can choose to have their arms down at their side, or across their chest when you zip up based on sleeping preference.
  3. To change their nappy, zip up from the bottom to release their legs and lower torso. You do not need to fully upzip the Cocoon, or release their arms, for this.
  4. To transition to arms-out sleeping, open the arm-poppers at the shoulders before dressing your child in the Cocoon.
  5. Sleep your child in their Cocoon Swaddle Bag with their feet touching the end of their bassinet or cot.

To change their nappy, zip up from the bottom to release their legs and lower torso. You do not need to fully upzip the Cocoon, or release their arms, for this.

How many swaddles do I need?

We recommend that you start with at least two Cocoon Swaddle Bags, one to wear and one in the wash. A baby can be a messy creature with leaking nappies and spitting up milk! If you are tacking different room temperatures in the day, opt for two in each TOG rating

How do I swaddle safely?

  1. The neck must be fitted to avoid a baby’s head slipping down into the swaddle. To check for correct fit, you should be able to fit two fingers in the neck hole when being worn.

  2. Swaddles should allow for full chest expansion when breathing, as those little ribs are still very soft and bendy so an overly enthusiastic swaddle has the potential to be too firm across the chest.

  3. The hips + legs need to be able to flop outwards while the baby sleeps. Tight swaddling across the hips that hold the legs together is thought to contribute and increase developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH).

  4. Babies don’t regulate their body heat very well and rely on their coverings to keep them warm but not hot. Do not overdress a baby underneath their swaddle and never cover their head at sleep time (e.g. with a hat or beanie). Chose a TOG rated swaddle such as our Cocoon Swaddle Bag to avoid using blankets as they are bulky and have the potential to overheat a baby or cause suffocation.

  5. Swaddling needs to be secure, without any chance of fabric draping over the baby’s face.

When do I transition my baby from Swaddle (closed poppers) to Sleeping Bag (open poppers)?

It’s time to start training your baby on how to sleep with their arms out of the Cocoon Swaddle Bag when your baby begins to show signs of rolling from their back onto their front. We recommend releasing only one arm out first, this will give a baby time to become used to this new way of sleeping. Naturally, they will have a few disturbed sleeps however this is normal when transitioning a baby through anything new so try one arm out for a week or two, followed by the other arm.

If your baby isn’t adjusting, try adding our Butterfly Cardi to aid the transition.

Can my baby sleep with their arms up in a Cocoon Swaddle Bag?

A baby won't be able to get their arms all the way up to the sides of their head in an ergoPouch Cocoon Swaddle Bag. Instead, our swaddles are made from a stretchy fabric to allow for natural arm movement. We find that babies will wriggle their arms and hands into a position that is most comfortable for them, the bag is stretchy enough for your baby to reach their mouth if sucking is what they prefer.

If your newborn baby prefers to sleep arms-out (i.e. not swaddled) – that’s OK! Simply open the arm poppers to let their arms out.  The Cocoon Swaddle Bag is still the warmest, safest solution for non-swaddled newborn babies during sleep.

Why does the neck opening seems a little tight on my Cocoon Swaddle?

To comply with safety requirements, our Cocoon Swaddle Bags have a firm fit around the neck, shoulder and chest area to prevent your little one from slipping inside. A quick way to check if the neck is too tight is to see if you can put 2 fingers inside the neck opening. If you can, the fit is correct. If you are still uncomfortable with the opening being small, we suggest to undo the zipper about 1cm down with the zip cover still over the top.

Sleeping Bags

How do I know if my child is ready for a sleeping bag?

A sleeping bag is suited to babies and infants who are out of the swaddling phase (arms-out sleeping), usually from around 3-4 months old. If you have a baby younger than this that is rolling, or a newborn who doesn’t like swaddling, our Cocoon Swaddle Bag is still the safest option for them to use, with the arm-poppers in the shoulders opened for arms-out sleeping.

How do I choose the right size sleeping bag?

Base your decision on your child’s weight and height. Our sleeping Bags cover 3-12 months, 8-24 months and 2-4 years and 4-6 years old. Please see our Size Guide for dimensions.

A sleeping bag should be well fitted around the neck and the armholes to avoid your baby slipping through. It should also be bell shaped in the bottom to allow for easy leg movement.

What is the difference between the Jersey Sleeping Bag and the Sheeting Sleeping Bag?

The body of the Jersey Sleeping Bag is made out of a soft and stretchy knitted organic cotton jersey fabric (similar to t-shirt fabric). Due to its slim-fit style and stretch factor, we would suggest using the Jersey Sleeping Bag for bubs that are ready to come out of their swaddle for an easier transition.

The body of the Sheeting Sleeping Bag is made out of a 400 thread count woven fabric (similar to a flat sheet you would use on your bd) with stretchy jersey side panels.  The Sheeting Sleeping Bag has a wider fit than the Jersey Bag, and is suited to those babes who like a little more room in their bag to move such as older infants and toddlers.

Why are there stretchy panels at the sides of your Sheeting Sleeping Bags?

We designed the ergonomic panels for two reasons:

1. As a baby starts to wriggle, the stretch panels allow for comfortable movement and prevent them getting tangled in the non-stretch sheeting material.

2. The panels help with breathability, avoiding temperature variations and overheating.

Why do you use organic cotton filling in your sleeping bags?

Sleeping with natural fibres can help your baby get a better night's sleep. Natural fibres disperse moisture from the skin, providing an even warmth and body temperature. ergoPouch swaddles, sleeping bags and sleep suits are all made from organic cotton, and our 2.5 TOG and 3.5 TOG products are filled with organic cotton.  As a result, they are all highly breathable, keeping babies consistently warm without overheating. Synthetic fillings such as polyester do not have the same qualities and can lead to temperature variations throughout the night, and contribute to dangerous overheating. Trapping heat can also be a particular problem for babies with eczema, as this will aggravate the condition.

We choose organic cotton as its better for the environment as well as your child.  Organic cotton farming practices use less artificial elements such as chemicals and pesticides, helps sustain soil health, and uses less chemicals in the manufacturing process. Therefore, organic cotton is more sustainable, safe and environmentally friendly than its regular counterpart.

My little one has started to unzip their sleeping bag - any tips?

This is a common problem! Our bags are built to help keep little fingers away from the zippers with extra-large zip covers. However some are just really good escape artists so we recommend turning the bag inside out so that they can't access the zipper pull.

My sleeping bag is soaking wet straight out of the washing machine — any tips?

We found that popping your sleeping bag in a full load of washing is better. The full load distributes the water evenly rather than your sleeping bag absorbing most of the water.  We suggest air drying your pouch initially, and finishing it off on a low tumble-dryer setting to help fluff up the fibres.

I have washed my ergoPouch and rust coloured stains have appeared on the bag?

This can sometimes occur with our organic cotton filling after its first wash. The reason for this is that tiny (and random) bits of organic cotton bud get trapped inside the filling of some ergoPouch sleeping bags when they are made. As the organic cotton filling in ergoPouch sleeping bags do not go through any type of chemical bleaching, the pigment from these tiny trapped buds come out and onto the material when the sleeping bags are washed for the first time.

ergoPouch have tested using a stain remover and 99% of the time the marks come out straight away. Understandably if chemicals don't want to get used, Bicarb Soda works just as well.

If the stains choose to be stubborn and don't want to come out, please contact us.

Can I get a Sleeping Bag with sleeves?

Yes, our 3.5 TOG Sheeting Sleeping Bag comes with sleeves, suitable for room temperatures below 21°C.

You can also opt to add our Arm Warmers to any sleeveless sleeping bag for extra warmth when needed.

Sleep Suit Bag.

What is a Sleep Suit Bag?

An award-winning design that is created for children who do move their legs a lot during sleep, and don’t like being confined to a sleeping bag. This 2-in-1 design can transform from a sleeping bag to a sleep suit with legs using zippers.  Ideal for toddlers who want more leg freedom during sleep, our use in a 5 point harness such as a pram or car seat*.

*Important safety note - do not use a 2.5TOG or 3.5 TOG product in a car seat as this may cause overheating.

What size Sleep Suit Bag should I buy?

The Sleep Suit Bag can be used from age 3 months, once your little one is rolling and has converted from swaddling to arms-out sleeping.  The Sleep Suit Bag comes in four sizes:

  • 3-12 months. We recommend the ‘bag’ configuration for this age group.
  • 8-24 months. We recommend converting the bag into a ‘suit’ around 12—15 months of age, when your little one will start to walk.
  • 2-4 years.  We recommend only using the ‘suit’ configuration for this age, to prevent injury in the event of cot climbing, or leaving the bed during the night.
  • 4-6 years. We recommend only using the ‘suit’ configuration for this age, to prevent injury in the event of cot climbing, or leaving the bed during the night.

Why are the sleeves on the 2.5 and 3.5 TOG not padded?

As a baby regulates their body temperature through their arms and head, ergoPouch 2.5 TOG and 3.5 TOG bags are padding-free in the sleeves.

Why are the sleeves on the 2.5 and 3.5 TOG not padded?

As a baby regulates their body temperature through their arms and head, ergoPouch 2.5 TOG and 3.5 TOG bags are padding-free in the sleeves.

How do I stop my child from removing their Sleep Suit Bag?

Those independent, fierce toddlers do not just discover their legs and walking once they reach toddler-hood, but their fine motor skill development often results in the discovery of zips and buttons on their Sleeping Bag. It is not uncommon for a toddler to remove their Sleeping Bag once you put them down for sleep. Parent’s have reported success with differing techniques, give one of these a go!.

1. Use the product in ‘legs’ mode

If you have the product still in the ‘bag’ mode, it may be that your wriggly toddler just needs their leg freedom to be comfy in sleep. Go ahead and try out the ‘legs’ mode to see if it makes a difference.

2. Change the TOG

In some cases, your toddler may feel too hot and be removing it for comfort. If this is the case, check the room temperature and what TOG you are using.  Go to a lighter TOG if needed.

3. Ensure the Zip Cover is done up

The Zip Cover is a little fabric flap with a press-stud dome, that goes over the zip guard to prevent curious fingers from accessing and undoing the zip.  Ensure this is done up when you put them down for their sleep.

4. Wearing backwards or inside out

If your wiley toddler has figured out the zip cover and nothing can stop them unzipping and remove their Sleep Suit Bag, try putting the product on them backwards, or inside out.

5. Try a different colour or print

We often get told by parents that their child prefers a particular colour or print in our range. Our Sleep Suit Bags come in 5 prints for the Spring Summer season.  Wearing their favourite colour may help your head-strong toddler or pre-schooler settle in for sleep more easily.

Can my child walk around in the Sleep Suit Bag seeing it has legs?

There are grip pads on the bottom of the Sleep Suit Bag to assist in walking safely if necessary for overnight bathroom trips, or sleepwalking. We do not recommend the Sleep Suit Bag is used outside of sleep as apparel, for safety.  As the Sleep Suit Bag acts as a sleep cue, we strongly suggest dressing your child in it just before bedtime/lights out to give them the signal that it is time for bed.

Sleep Onesie

What is a Sleep Onesie?

The Sleep Onesie is a TOG-rated alternative to a sleeping bag, for those children that do not like sleeping bags but are still too young to use blankets. The Sleep Onesie makes it different from the other pouches in our range as it has legs rather than a ‘bag’.

Regardless of its shape, the Sleep Onesie is TOG rated to be designed for use in sleep, without the need for blankets.  Simply layer underneath with Pyjamas or Layers for added warmth.

What age should by child use a Sleep Onesie?

The Sleep Onesie can be used from age 6 months for those children that don’t like the restriction of a sleeping bag, but the ideal age range is for preschoolers transitioning to a big bed and blankets.

When your little one starts ‘blanket-training’ they may kick off their blankets at night and get cold, resulting in waking. Using a Sleep Onesie underneath their blankets will help keep them warm should this happen. We suggest following our What to Wear temperature guide to ensure you do not overheat your child.

How do I keep my child’s feet warm with the Sleep Onesie?

The Sleep Onesie has feet cuffs to cover feet during sleep. If this is not enough, feel free to pop on a pair of light socks underneath the cuffs. As children regulate their temperature through their extremities, be careful not to put too many layers on their feet.  Note, cold hands and feet during sleep is normal with a newborn and baby as their bodies cannot yet regulate temperature. As long as their core is warm and dry to touch, they are warm enough during sleep. You can test this by placing your hand on the skin of their nape or upper back.

Layers and Pyjamas

What are Layers?

Taking the guesswork out of dressing a little one for sleep, our TOG rated Layers are designed to be worn underneath a swaddle, sleeping bag or Sleep Suit Bag, like a onesie or zippy, for extra warmth. Alongside our suggested What to Wear guide, these short or long sleeve layers are an essential sleepwear staple when choosing which TOGs to put together based on the room temperature. It's genius and simple.

What is the difference between Pyjamas and Layers?

Our ‘Layers’ are simply pyjama’s for newborns – 2 years, whereas our 2-piece Pyjama’s are pyjamas for 2–5 years.   Both styles are made from organic cotton, are TOG-rated for warmth, and can be worn underneath your child’s pouch.

2-piece Pyjamas can also be worn on their own as regular pyjamas in a big bed with blankets for those kids that have transitioned out of their cot.

When is my child ready to move out of Layers into Pyjamas?

Either when they outgrow their Layers (which go up to size 2), or show the following signs:

  • Toilet training
  • Desire to self-dress

Window Blockout

What is the Window Blockout designed for?

The reusable static cling Window Blockout is the perfect answer for babies and toddlers who need total darkness in their room to sleep. Now in WHITE on both sides, to fit in seamlessly with your nursery decor. The outer side reflects light away from the room to help regulate the temperature of the room for a more pleasant sleep.

What surface can I use the Window Blockout on?

Suitable for single or double-glazed windows. This product is not intended for use on non-smooth surfaces such as frosted or privacy glass/plastics

Will they leave residue on my window?

No, the Window Blockout uses static to cling, not adhesive.

How do I fit the blockout onto my window?

1. Measure the width and length of your window.

2. Add 2CM to each measurement and cut sheets to appropriate size. This will ensure you don't accidentally under-cut and end up with a gap.

3. Using a spray bottle or a damp cloth, apply water to the window.

4. Peel the blockout from the storage sheet.

5. Gently apply the shiny side of the blockout to the window at the desired height, and smooth the rest of the sheet down with your hand.

Air bubbles? Don’t stress, either smooth using a credit card or simply peel off and start again.

How long will they last?

The durability of each sheet can be very long under normal conditions. These conditions can be affected by circumstances such as dirt or dust, the amount of times a sheet is taken on and off, the temperature etc. With this in mind, there is no timeframe that can be given.

How do I remove the Window Blockout?

To remove the blockout, detach the sheet from the window and roll for storage, ready to be reused on another occasion.

How do I store the sheets after use?

After gently removing the sheets from your window, you can roll them and pop an elastic band around the roll to keep it secure. Store in a dry place.

Butterfly Cardi

Who is the Butterfly Cardi for?

This little life-saver is for babies who are transitioning out of a swaddle and into a sleeping bag. The arm pockets help ease the position by slowing transitioning from arms in, to arms in a half-up butterfly position, to arms fully out over 7-10 days.

Can I use it over any swaddle or sleeping bag?

Yes. We suggest using it over the top of the sleeping bag you intend your arms-out sleeper to be using at the end of the process.

How do I use it transition to arms-out?

We recommend using the Butterfly Cardi over a 10 day period to transition to arms-out sleeping. You can follow our simple step-by-step How-To Guide for the Butterfly Cardi, here. Wine and chocolate on hand are also recommended! Breathe mama, you've got this.

Portable Crib

Can I use this from birth?

Yes, the Easy Sleep Portable Crib is safe to use for sleep from birth.

How much does the crib weigh?

The crib weighs 2.2kg, making it lightweight enough for portability, and sturdy enough for sleep.

Can I take this on a plane?

Yes, the crib folds down to fit into a backpack (include) and therefore can be taken on board as carry on luggage. The crib will fit into the overhead locker.

Will the crib support my baby’s size or weight?

An infant up to 9kg can safely use the Easy Sleep Portable Crib. The crib is 80cm long and 49cm wide.

Does the crib meet safety standards for sleep?

In Australia, there are no specific safety standards for cribs. However, we have designed the Easy Sleep Portable Crib with safety features in mind, as guided by Red Nose Australia and INPAA. The breathable mesh body on all sides provide good ventilation, the high sides are made with a sturdy steel frame measuring 30cm, and the thin, firm mattress is designed to ensure the crib is safe for infant sleeping.

Can I use this as a co-sleeper?

We do not suggest this is used as a co-sleeper in your bed.

Does it come with a stand?

No, at this stage the crib does not come with a stand. For safe use, always place the crib on a low, flat, smooth and hard surface such as the ground, during sleep. Ensure the safety lock on each side is in place before placing baby in crib.

What age can I use this up to?

We advise you discontinue use once your baby shows signs of rolling, or is 9kg (whichever comes first). Please do not use for sleep, for a baby who is rolling. Once your baby is rolling, you can still safely use the crib as a play space during awake time.

Can I use it for overnight sleeps as well as day naps?

Yes. The safety features of the crib make it safe to use for both naps during the day, and overnight sleep.

Drift Away White Noise Machine

What is the battery life of Drift Away?

Drift Away has a 48 hour continuous playback time on a single charge when playing sound only. That means if you were to playback Drift Away for an average of 8 hours a day, a single charge would last you up to 6 days. An orange light will indicate the battery needs to be charged, and will also show while charging. Using the night light continuously will use up the battery life faster.

Drift Away takes around 2 hours to charge from empty to full battery. We recommend running the battery down completely before charging again. Rechargeable polymer-lithium batteries naturally diminish maximum charging capacity over time. This is expected to happen over several years. You can help preserve the life of a battery by not exposing it to heat sources and not charging erratically.

When can I start using white noise?

Drift Away is safe to use from birth, or before! You may find the sounds soothing during labour and the presence comforting to your babe as they enter the world.

Can I play it when it's plugged in?

Yes, the Drift Away unit is safe to play while charging.

How close can I use white noise to my baby?

Whether playing it for yourself or baby, the sound should never be higher than conversation level, or 65db. The Drift Away unit at its highest volume setting will play at 65db when used 50cm from baby’s head, or 50db as recommended by both ergoPouch and the American Academy of Paediatrics when 2 metres away from baby’s head. We recommend turning off the noise after your baby has achieved their first sleep cycle transition, around 1 hour after falling asleep.

Do I leave the sound on through baby's sleep?

For a baby, we recommend the sound is turned off after their first successful REM cycle transition, or around 1 hour after they fall asleep. This will help prevent the overuse of noise becoming a sleep crutch and prevent any issues constant sound may present to a baby’s developing auditory processing systems.

Is this device low in Electric & Magnetic Fields (EMFs)?

As our unit is such a small device, it does not fall into the home electrical goods categories which emit low EMFs. Please always ensure the device is placed at a safe distance of more than 2 metres from the user.

When do I stop using white noise to help my baby sleep, and why?

Around 8-12 months of age, your baby may not need white noise to help with sleep. You can wean your baby off white noise by introducing other sleep tools and cues such as a comforter.

Baby Tuck Sheet

How long can I use the Baby Tuck Sheet for?

The Baby Tuck Sheet is designed for newborns who are not yet rolling. Discontinue use once your baby shows signs of rolling for their safety.

How do I know which TOG side I should have on my child?

Use the 1.0 TOG side if your baby has strong startle reflex and needs a firmer fit, or the 0.2 TOG side for a lighter weight and stretchier fit. Included in the packaging is a Room Thermometer & Baby Tuck Sheet Dressing Guide, to help you figure out how to layer your baby underneath your chosen Tuck Sheet TOG.

Can I put extra blankets on top of the Tuck Sheet?

We advise not to add any additional loose bedding into your baby's sleep environment. The Baby Tuck Sheet is designed to be used for comfort and security. If you are looking to add warmth to your child for sleep, we suggest increasing the TOG rating of their swaddle and under layers.
